Traders at Muse Wholesale near the Myanmar-Chia border suggested the watermelon growers should target the local market as the Muse transportation route completely stopped and is estimated to last at least six months.
“We don’t know when the border gates will be opened given the situation of the Myanmar-China border situation. China’s block of border grate can last two to three months or maybe a year. There is no certainty regarding the border gate being reopened and trade has stooped completely. Watermelon and cucumber growers should target the local market and grow the crops with careful consideration. The fruits can be exported only when the border gate, fortunately, reopen,” said U Sai Khin Maung, Owner of Khar Nyo wholesale shop.
Kyint San Kyawt gate, the main gate to China from Muse, was closed in early July and trading between the two countries stopped. Then on August 3, officials of Shweli City announced that the border gates will remain closed for two months except for medical supplies.

တရုတ်နိုင်ငံသို့ မူဆယ်နယ်စပ်မှ အဓိကဝင်ထွက်နေသည့် ကျင်စန်းကျော့ဂိတ်ကို ဇူလိုင်လဆန်းပိုင်းတွင် စတင်ပိတ်လိုက်ပြီး ကုန်သွယ်မှု ရပ်တန့်သွားခဲ့ရာ သြဂုတ်လ ၃ ရက်တွင် ရွှေလီမြို့ အုပ်ချုပ်ရေးတာဝန်ရှိသူများက အရေးကြီးဆေးဝါးပစ္စည်းမှလွဲ၍ နယ်စပ်ဂိတ်များကို နှစ်လကြာပိတ်ထားမည် ဖြစ်ကြောင်း တရားဝင် ထုတ်ပြန်ထားသည် ဟု သိရသည်။
